Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Patients who suffer Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), aslo known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME usually) present one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Continuous fatigue
  • Disordered sleep
  • Weak and aching muscles
  • Cognitive handicaps such as depression, impaired memory or lack of concentration

In Chinese Medicine, the cause of ME is usually a result of dampness, which leads to the obstruction of the spleen energy. For the long term, the vital energy will be weak and this will cause fatigue.

Acupuncture for ME and Chinese herbal remedies are administered to bring energy to deficient organs and to drain the dampness and to expel pathogen. Moxibustion or moxa therapy (burning sticks made of leaves) can be applied to systemic points to achieve the mentioned pathologies.
